Welcome! Make an Impact in 2024!
Growing up as an only child I was always inquisitive; getting into everything I could get my hands on. I HAD to know "WHY" and constantly questioned the adults in my life; so much so my parents bought me a book called "Why is the sky blue?" very similar to this one here Amazon Link!
That, "why", sentiment hasn't changed over the past few decades but what has changed is seeing how certain life events became "roots of impact". The root of all this was finding ways of learning that fit me; I always loved learning but I didn't always love school (which may come as a surprise to many of my childhood friends). I was often bored and understimulated; imagine redirections and frustration from my teachers who "didn't know what to do with me"...
Thankfully though, there WERE teachers, camp counselors, and other mentors who DID know what to do with me! These people and my experiences with them became more "roots of impact" that led me where I am today. As I delve further into this process I'll share more about what that path looked like including the experiences and people along the way; though for now I'll share that I'm beyond thankful for those who "made an impact" on me creating this ripple effect.
I've always been curious about how one thing leads to another and how the world is interconnected; how we are all impacted by the world around us and each other. From "a ha" moments of learning about the Experiential Learning Cycle, Zones of Optimal Learning, to more complex and nuanced terms of the neurosequential brain model and the term "intersectionality" all along I knew I was on my way to understanding "why" and now I'm also interested in the "how".
As I continue to learn "why" and "how" I now get to learn from and alongside other amazing individuals who have become dear friends, mentors, mentees, colleagues, fellow competitors in sports, athletes, and my clients. I look forward to "what shows up" in front of me and how what any new moment could become a "root of impact" for myself and others.
"Never give up until you have released your unused capacities for service and shared your gifts with others; one enkindled spirit can set hundreds on fire." ~Wiliam H. Danforth
